Speedo swap

Hi,

how easy it is to swap the speedo from a kmph one to a mph one in an 2005 Jazz/Fit? I have the panel where the odomoter is with the fuel gauge in the right hand side dial.

I would like to retain the correct odometer reading as it currently is (in kilometers), unless there's a software hack to get it to show miles instead, so don't want to replace the whole cluster?

Disassemble one of the clusters and find out how difficult it would be to swap the speedometer insert. Shouldn't be too bad to do. Most OEMs use the same drive display speed units and change the numbers and spacing on the insert card, a GD shouldn't be any different. Post pics if you do it!

Unfortunately the only cluster I have is fitted in the car. Don't want to buy another just to experiment, or disassemble the one in the car only to have to put it back again, either because it isn't possible or until I've got the mph one to make the swap.

Was kinda hoping I'm not the only person out there to have considered doing this?

Well... Here's a deal for you then. I actually need to purchase a cluster to disassemble, I need the tach, making the rest of it is useless to me after it is out. So what if I purchase a US cluster, disassemble it and sell you the MPH speedo? Better yet, I'll sell it all for half of the purchase price, plus shipping, pending a clean removal/disassembly. There's an '08 GD Sport at the local junk yard that I have already pulled parts from, the cluster is still there, and the price should be $13.85 plus tax, so ~$15 total. Here's the local price list to verify: https://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/loca...pa-180/prices/

Do US cars have rear fog light indicators in the instrument panel?

Not active ones, no. The provision may be there but the US Fit did not get the light (nor switch).

Speaking of, what does the switch and light look like in yours? I can't find a photo online...

Mine doesn't have the switch or the light, but I am required to have the fog light. Hence my query, as if I'm converting speedo from km/h to mph I'd prefer to have the stock fog light telltale in the speedo and the stock fog light switch on the stalk.

Gotcha. The front fog light indicator is present, unfortunately no rear. I checked. I think you're stuck picking up a EDM cluster and adapting it. Here's about all there is on doing it:https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...ml#post1046060
