TOP FUEL PowerChamber 2 intake GE8

Finally, after 2 months wait... it's here. I already have the PRM but since it's a very short sri, it leaves this huge area where the stock intake box used to be. The top fuel intake addresses this by filling up most of that space.

The question is... is it a SRI or CAI or is it getting into both worlds

quick sound check... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXpQdUtOxF0

What's in the box:

it does sound better than the PRM
here's my question tho... on a design standpoint, what benefit might I get on having this type of intake than that of the PRM or a full blown cai?

All that tubing and the big plenum box means more torque through most of the rev-range usually.

And the intake filter is moved behind the battery and out of the way of the hot air being pulled through the radiator. If you can route the inlet tube that comes from the front air dam back around behind the battery you will get cooler IAT's.

So you will have a nice compromise between the super long tube CAI's that can put the intake cone in a potentially hazardous location (in terms of picking up water and other nasty stuff) and the short tube, responsive SRI.

What the actual numbers amount to is tough to say. But that is what theory dictates. I will have to go take a closer look at the PRM.. what CAI did you have in mind?

That would probably help me make this slightly less vague and generalized

I'm not sure if this might help but I did manage to get pictures of my DIY and PRM

as for the CAI, was hoping to compare to a takeda, it has dyno numbers somewhere.

One reason I went on with the topfuel is that all CAI are only made for M/T and the top fuel is as close to having one.

Wow...even the box looks sick. Lol. Let us know how it compares to the prm. I went the same route as u...custom short ram to prm. This would work hellawell with my scoop. But im still waiting on word on sprintex

fascinating stuff - didn't know intakes had this effect. have any good links that talk about how this works? is it the volume of the intake system or really the length that affects tq/responsiveness?

finally took the FIT out and racked up 60+ miles with Top Fuel intake installed.
at Mitsuwa (funny how the shadow makes it look raise LOL)

back to topic... so here's what:
1. sound is so discrete to the point that I'm thinking hmmm... but then again I must be used to the PRM's always loud, tinny and buzzing sound across the rpm range.
2. now when vtec ingages... it was... well... like sound of sex!
3. here's the most noticing and quite intriguing part... it seem that my very silent Tanabe Touring Medallion is growling... I mean... "low mellow noticeably growls". This was confirmed by someone who has frequently rode and driven the Fit.
4. feel... feel is different. placebo? maybe? but I can definitely feel the car pull when you want it to pull. not sure what I'm feeling but I like it.

here's how I could relate the intakes:
PRM = sound is rather more prominent and I know it gets annoying as some have described (and everybody knows how I prefer the DIY SRI's sound than the PRM).
top fuel = you can feel and hear it and that hearing includes my very supposed to be quiet Tanabe touring medallion.

this Top Fuel intake made me fall in love of my Tanabe exhaust all over again but on another level <3

Probably not unless you get drunk and have a wreck or something and the driver you hit has Mafia affiliations, they decide to shoot your car, set your hair on fire and throw you into the cargo area and your flaming hair burns your head liner... The K&N intake will be fine and will have no effect on the engine temperature... Get some K&N filter oil spray and give the filter a light coat between the times that you wash and oil it.... The weather there will dry out a popcorn fart and it can get dusty so a little extra oil is a safe guard to prevent fine dust particle from getting through the filter.

Don't put any extra oil on your filter!
It will mess up your sensors.
Follow K&Ns instructions and you will be fine.

Putting too much oil on the filter will mess up the sensor and can even foul spark plugs . K&N filter oil drys out in high temperature low humidity very dusty situations and a very light coat sprayed on to the filter increases the filtering ability... I've been using this type of filter for 25 years or longer and close to 5 years on my Fit without any problems... At one time this practice was suggested in the literature provided by K&N.. In fact they said that doing this to a dirty filter increased the ability to filter out fine particles better than a clean filter..... Just don't over do it.
