Why don't you just get a 2005 Civic and get yourself the pinnacle of D-series engineering which is the 1.7? Get the non-VTEC model (DX, LX) if you want to turbocharge it (keeps things simpler) or the EX if you just want to lighten the car and perform some intake/exhaust modifications. Actually I don't find much benefit from the VTEC myself; I rarely get up there and the 16 has acceptable low-end torque. "Acceptable" is accurate both in a positive and negative sense.

Get a manual for sure because the D-series doesn't have tons of power. I actually think it's a fun engine (I had a D16Y7 in a 2300lb car), lots of character and satisfying to drive, but it needs appropriate gearing and a lightweight car.

That's what you should do. Or should have done. But I will like to see your end result because it'll be a lot more interesting than if you just go out and buy a 2005 Civic which, let's face it, isn't that unique.

I don't understand why you're so convinced that the D16 is far superior to the L15. If it's because you think the D16 is so much more bulletproof than the L15 why not just turbo the L15 and if you ruin the motor, replace it then. You're going to kill any value that your relatively new car has by doing this.

The D16 was a decent motor but it certainly had it's shortcomings. I've had 3 D-series motors, trust me, you can blow those too.

Your thread just about asked everyone on this forum whos looking at these threads. OP, you have to understand that you came in here asking a question and when people spent their time to give you honest responces you came back upset at people who were in doubt of your idea.

If you have such a problem with how people feel about swaping a D series motor into your ride then you shouldn't of come on FF to ask and instead you should just go and do it if you're so certain of the outcome.....

I will summarize again what people said and why I think you shouldn't bother.

A. The cost of you doing this as opposed to keeping it stock
B. The cost you would incur after buying and installing even a low cost d series would equate to you buying a higher performing car
C. The trouble of doing all this to see such little gains that you're convinced would be more.
D. All the trouble it would cost you might as well drop a K series
E. The legality of it, if you've ever wanted to get a swap "Bared" you'd know that can't drop an older motor into a newer chasis
F. Depending on what D series you're giving up the vtec
G. I own an EF9 with a D series and the ways to get that faster is to gut the car, get a lighter flywheel and final drive.
H. you're giving up a motor designed around 2007 for an engine designed in 1989

JUST THINK ABOUT IT DUDE.... I'm sorry I called you an iddiot but after all the time people spent answering your question you still responded like a tool...

and also your name, "wontfit" is another reason, it won't fit without some heavy mods... It's like putting a full on Rice GT Wing on your 98hp civic when you only drive it on the street and it only gives you effective downforce at speeds in excess of 100mph.. doesn't make sense.

doesn't make sense in function and it sure as hell would be funny in form when you pop your hood and show everyone your "D Series"

Oh ya, I know it's not some magical invincible motor. I just like that my d series all have the ability to make good power and therefore be a fun project. The l15 just really let me down tuning wise. although the motor is good, the fuel management system is whack.

D- series in a fit= mad respect. Functionality? Dude, any d16 blows the l15 away. Simply because it can make loads of power and still be a daily driver. Lets see you pull 500 hp from a turbo l15. I wanna see it bro

Answered? I received only suggestions. No one here said it can't be done. They said it would be hard. And they said I would run into various issues, but never that it couldn't be done. Go back to wherever you were in 2005.
