First off I believe the inside diameter of the Fit's MAF tube where the sensor mountes is 2" not 3". There has been some discussion about buying a MAF tube like the one you posted a pic of, but I haven't heard of anyone finding one that was small enough. Spectre makes one that is 2.5" I believe and the guys that tried it got check engine lights. It's best just to cut the tube out of the filter box cover just like in the DIY. If you're nervous about cutting up your stock box you can just order a replacement lid from Bernardi Parts (around $20 with shipping) and leave your stock airbox assembly intact just in case. That's what I did and it worked out great. The DIY intake sounds awesome and, contrary to the general consensus, I think it really did add a little bit of power to the engine.

Also, I wanted to add that the DIY mentions using a saw or kitchen knife to do the cutting. I used a dremel tool with a "roto-zip" bit (I hope I'm calling it the right thing. It's the bit that you would use to cut holes in drywall like for a wall outlet). It made cutting the tube out and shaving it down a piece of cake.

Yeah I was just thinking about cutting it now, I already bought all the parts for the diy intake
