Works fine in a 2012 base--BUT--you have to mount the accord horn backward with 2 small brass washers (ACE hardware has them for 51 cents each) between the horn and the body to keep the horn from hitting the the A/C condensor.

not sure but check this tread too

there's plenty of room to do snail types or even dual air horns.

Not sure what you were looking at in the picture that seems wrong--the Accord horn fits fine in the 2012 Fit, as long as it is mounted backward with a couple of washers so it can clear the A/C condensor. My pic shows the accord horn in the configuration that works on the 2012 Fit.

cheers.

My bad--I thought you were talking about my picture above.

Here's a picture of the two clips holding the hood latch cover, and the 12mm bolt holding the horn. You don't actually have to remove either of the clips to get at the bolt. In fact, if you remove the clips, you will break them. When I did my horn, I removed one clip and swung the plastic hood latch cover out of the way.

Hope this helps.

I'm interested in installing the Hella Supertones on my 13' Base Model Fit. Any help on that?

ps. My first car, no experience on modding what so ever.

Great advice MSBXIV! Installed it backwards with washers for a perfect fit.

Glad it worked out. The accord horn still doesn't get a lot of respect. The other day somebody nearly crashed into me by going straight out of a right turn only lane and I laid on the horn, and they...just...kept...coming! It was a beat up old pickup (vs my brand new fit, he musta knew I would eventually yield).

I need something louder but I'm too lazy to do the underhood relays and direct battery connection.

Im curious about this... CollegeHillHonda has pulled the video #156 (Fit Horn mod) from youtube, and no longer sells the part online either. Anyone know why?

I performed the mod years ago, wonder if there were issues with this?

Hmm, this thread could have been very helpful, but the DIY photo links in the original post are not exactly what I was hoping for, LOL

I just did this for my 2013, but thought that even with the washers behind the bolt head the "reversed" horn would be a little too close to the radiator. So I just bent the bracket forward to give it some more room. This worked so well I decided to delete the washers and just bend the bracket a little more. The bracket is just a flat piece of steel, and bends easily enough with a firm but careful tug. You can simply install it and then pull forward until there is sufficient clearance.

I just ordered the 09 low horn from my local Honda dealer, paid 16.95 and is should be in on Wednesday. I have a 2013 fit (same as 2012). I will try to take some pics of the install and post them here seeing as the original links are all messed up.

I bought a pre-owned 2013 a couple weeks ago and the first mod was the 09 Accord horn. Long story short, I was still disappointed in the Accord horn. I couldn't even hear it with the radio on and driving on the freeway. The only way I would hear it was to turn down the radio.

Needless to say, I purchased some Piaa 500/600 horns and installed them tonight. Wow. I should have went with the Piaa's in the first place. Such an easy install and I was done in about 20 minutes. A relay is optional, but I went with the no relay route.

I know this tread is old, but has anyone update their alarm to accord one? Hearing that meep meep when I lock my car is getting annoying.
