Need help with amp

I have a Sony Xplod xm 404eqx amp.

Here are the specs:
Sony Xplod XM-404EQX 40 x 4 Car Amplifier at Crutchfield.com

Does anyone have any comments on this product beside it's discontinued?

I also have 2 10"? subs in a box (I need to check the brand and specs on that). Will that amp power the subs?

Is it worth wiring it together? My friend said that this amp is the weakest amp he ever seen..

That amp is more designed for powering front and rear speakers. What is you budget for an amp for your subs. Also what kind of subs, kind of box do you have.

It bridges to 100 x 2 so It won't be bad, but we would need to know what subs you are hooking it to. I would probably sell it and try to find a good 2 channel amp if you are wanting to power subs.

thanks for all the replies.

To be honest, I am not sure. I took it out of the box and it said made in china. In front the center cap said KS. The subs are two 9" subs in a jensen box. I will try again to check the brand if it.

Are you using the OEM head? If so, Ya this will def. put some boom in your Fit. If ya have any questions about an OEM.amp.sub hook up I just finished this proj. up 2 weeks ago. I'd be glad to help if I can. Shaun954 has some expre-ants and has done this 2.

That should be good enough to get you hooked... then you will start upgrading things. I would just hook it up and see how it sounds. It will probably overpower the rest of your system though.

ok the 1st thing to is lay out your wiring. i used 4ga (ebay) amp kit, and the most important part is a LOC80 this is what I spiced into my rear speakers so the signal going to the amp would be the correct amplitude. LOC80 from Electronic Express on Amazon.
Is your a A/T or M/T ?Check ICE Where can you pull a power wire for your Amp. through the Firewall??
Lay out the power and remote wire down the drivers side and I used a accessory curciut from the fuse pannel (and fuse that at 3 amps) to a mini toggle switch under the heater controlls. This way I can cut off the amp and just run the OEM system.

After everything is wired up the LOC80 will need to be adjusted L&R channels, the amp will need to be adjusted to for what you want it to do Low frequienceis 2 channel prob. 4ohms. Then the head unit I set mine on "smooth" you get the hardest hits on that, the bass +1or+2, treb.+3 spr @ high fade +1 rear. and Use what ya got check the bottom of the spkrs for the ohm rating. This will let you know how to set up the amp. The GD3's has a 4ohm speakers I figure the GE8's use the same thing but research it to make sure. I used a single 12" Punch w/ a Rockford Fosgate 200w bridged amp made the box myself and bought a 12" grill off Ebay for 9.00 to protect the sub!! I have less than 180.00 in my system and it's Great! So if you already have the amp and subs it should be 40-60 bucks or< to get your Fit Thump'n dude . GLWA and if ya want pix let me know and I can post'em up. There are a few on my site you can check out.
Mike
