space saving mounting location for large amp?

i have a HUGE Precision Power Amp i'd like to use in my car but i kinda want to avoid placing it behind the rear seat to keep the cabin flat if i fold down. Anyone else run into this snag and found a solution? I have old-skool Diamond Audio components for the front and Image Dynamic woofers for the rear.. im sure they'll need more than what a headunit offers

False floor with amp either underneath it or flush mounted into the false floor is about the only way.

Mounting to the box is #1 cause of amp malfunction. All those vibrations from the box really can F up the board inside an amp.

I would never mount to the box unless 100% necessary.

REALLY? uh oh i was about to do that. right now my sub amp is sitting right in the middle of my spare tire, it fits perfectly. I think the big 4ch amp will just have to be mounted behind the seat though, im not skilled enough to build a "raised panel" although that'd be great. Quick question though, do i have to find a specific place to screw in the back of the seat or can i just do it anywhere?

Not hard to make a false floor. Make a template out of cardboard paper. Trace it onto the wood and cut out with jig saw. Finish it with whatever material you like.

hmmm.. sounds so labor intensive... installing the HU took me 6 hours! a false floor will take a month! hahaha

after installing the Pioneer AVH-P4100, i was quite impressed for a few hours.. But alas the stock speakers just lack the clarity, flat response, and imaging that i crave! have 2 sets of good speakers i'll attempt to install but one set had to get the rubber surrounds replaced... they're from like 1999 so i guess it was just aged. Diamond Audio M561 Front Components and Image Dynamics something rears. Great... in a few days imma cut the crap out of my hands again doing this the rear speakers are REALLY DEEP so hopefully they'll fit. Oh, im gonna do the ghetto zip tie speakers to stock speaker shell mod so hopefully there will be enough clearance. The Crossovers are HUGE so if they dont fit in the door, i might have to make room in the dashboard

Im not sure if it would work, but it would look cool in the hidden compartment in the rear seat.

none of my amps have ever failed from being mounted on my box. I had a Alpine V12 DC mounted to a box of 2 12W4's for about 10 years. This kicker amp has been mounted like this for about a year now and I still have 3 years left on my warranty

not saying britdevine is wrong, but mine haven't failed

Mounting an amp to a box isn't going to make it fail.

It just isn't the ideal place to mount an amp unless its absolutely necessary.

Ditch the spare and put the amp in the spare tire well.
