200/400 WRms for that sub. What kind of amp do you have cause that's extremely low.

A well then you're over powering. Not under powering.

no I'm underpowered. The driver is dual 2ohms wired to 4ohms will only get 150. I wanted to get the dual 4ohm so i could wire it 2ohms and get 300watts.

edit: its wired in series to get the 4ohm load. I dont want to wire it in parallel cuz my amp isnt rated for 1ohm operation.

Just for the record 150w isn't really that big of a deal and if the amp is of decent quality it is probably under rated anyway.

exactly, thats why its so easy for the amp to start clipping.

its a mtx jh300. Bought it ages ago. I'm a college student and cant afford anything better at the moment

I guess I fail to see the logic. Set the gain so it doesn't clip and don't use bass boost, etc.

I've already tried everything. I can't even tell if the subwoofer is even on when i set the gain before it starts to clip. I even have it in the recommended box size. I swapped it with another 8" sub that came off of a broken ht sub and its playing without clipping at any gain level.
