2011 Sport Ipod interface

Hi all. Just traded in my 2010 base, manual for 2011 sport automatic and am very confused what I need to purchase to utilize my interface in upper glovebox. Says on line to use 5th generation or later Ipod; however, is there not something else that can be utilized other than Ipod or flash drive? Seems ridiculous to pay $70-80 on ebay for a used 5th generation when other manufacturers are much cheaper than Ipod. I need nothing other than unit for music, as video camera, pedometer, etc. are not needed/ I am not a expert in MP3 players; however, I want to utilize the interface if at all possible. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks.
John

How much cheaper are you going to get then $70-80? I would just get an iPod, it's going to be more reliable then a cheapo off-brand mp3 player anyways.

If you don't want an ipod just get a usb flash drive- you can get them for less than $20. They work fine.

I think any brand will work- I have an old 4 GB sandisk cruzer (several years old)

you can get a 16 gb these days for pretty cheap

Amazon.com: USB Flash Drives

Thanks Susan. Will try the flash drive and see how it works. Too bad we cannot get anyone to answer who has a MP3 player (other than the IPOD) that works with the Fit Sport interlock. Seems like this question has been asked on many forums, but no answer that I can find, other than IPOD. Anyway, many thanks.
