Getting ready to start my HU install and making sure I've got everything answered before I dive in....

The HU will have a camera installed, but with this being a 5sp, I need to know what wire I need to route to the HU so it knows the car is in reverse.

Looking through a ton of threads and searching all the postings I can find that have the Fit's audio harness connector, I don't see any pins that appear to be the 'reverse' indicator wire.

 

Download the manual in my signature and find yourself a reverse switch wire color.

It should be a 2 or 3 wire connector mounted onto the transmission.

Can also tap into the wiring for the reverse lights. This will run down one side of the vehicle, and may be able to tap into it somewhere under the dashboard

Looks like I need the green wire that comes out of the M/T backup light switch.
Just need to physically locate it now.

 

Usually when I install a reverse camera, I run an extra wire with the video wire and connect it to the reverse light's positive wire. It really only takes about 10 minutes more at the most and you know for sure that it will work every time.

 

I mount on the back reverse light bulb area.
Take the panel out,cut the wires,release attached n insert back.
Put panel back.
Done.

yah, just tap it to the reverse light bulb. much easier imho.

considering how cheap some of these cameras are, i should've added one when i installed my 2500BT. not that i have much issues backing out or anything, sometimes it's just better to have another extra set of eyes looking out for little kids.
