adding USB to 2009 base

Hey just curious, I wanted to know how to add USB. I’ve got the cable/cord, do I need anything else, or can I plug in to back of OEM base radio and wire through to cubby?

Thats how mine's hooked up and I can verify beyond the shadow of doubt. That it sucks. If i run maps and pandora it *maintains* charge on the phone. Thats the stock setup though.

The radio output would work but like Pyts said won’t supply much current (probably .5A). If you want an integrated system I would get a buck converter so that you could step the current up to 2 amps (high speed charger output). Mount the board in a project box and run a switched 12v source to the board. Output to your USB mounted where you want.

Easiest solution would be to just get a 12v cigarette lighter adapter.

What do you mean you have the cable/cord? The stock base radio doesn't have a USB connection on it; you have to add a module that plugs into the radio. This has a custom USB factory cable (like on the Sport) that normally mounts to the inside of the glovebox.

I did this years ago, but the college hills honda link and my pictures no longer work. Here's a new link to pictures.

Consider this: HondaPartsNow. The instructions are pretty good.

So the USB control module is required? I have the cord, just not the module box. I don’t care about music, just charging.

If it's just charging you want, get a good USB charger to plug in to the aux power outlet below the HVAC controls.
