Fit got broken in

Hi,

My 2010 Fit got broken in tonight but its weird because I locked my car, and the secure alarm light (Red flashing dot after you locked the car) was armed. However, someone broke into my car from my trunk and the alarm didn't even go on, that being said, if inside of my car wasn't look like being searched, I think I wouldn't have noticed my car got broken in. So I am wondering how that works, I thought the alarm is also connected to the trunk door as well. Any thought?

How do you know they broke in through the trunk?

Someone could break the window climb in, and climb out through the window and I don't think the alarm would sound unless a door or hood was opened.

Because my car was clearly being searched and the trunk was left slightly opened, and there are marks at the trunk door that were left when that guy was breaking in my car.

Does the trunk still lock and close properly?

Who breaks into a Honda Fit looking for treasure? One might have better luck with cars worth more than $5k lol.

I try to keep the hatch screen open so crooks see nothing is in the car. In Europe we also keep the glove compartment opened when parking and leave the car always completely empty.

Sorry about that ordeal.

Someone could have been looking for money, or registration that shows your name & address (so they can rob you while you're not home), a spare key for the Fit, or any type of RX drugs you might have. The fact that it was searched indicates they were looking for all of the above, or even thought you had drugs in the car. Hope you called the cops. If they can get finger prints, then possible to find out who the thief was.

I wish I had a police force like that. My neck of the woods would not fingerprint a car break-in.
