I've have my 2008 fit sport for a little over a month now. Today there was a red light flashing directly below the speedometer that I had never seen before. I now know that is the alarm indicator. I wasn't sure what it was then but whatever, I put the key in the ignition so I could go home. When I started the car the alarm started going off. I tried turning the car back off, I tried pressing all the buttons on the fob, nothing was turning it off and I was next to a bunch of sleeping bums so I decided to just get out of there. After a few blocks the alarm stopped but the red light continued blinking kind of erratically. The alarm went off again when I got home.

I locked and unlocked the car with the fob.

How do I stop this from happening again?

 

If you received another key with the vehicle, try using that one. The electronics could be damaged. According to the owner's manual, you may not be able to even start the car if the electronics are completely damaged.
