Towing Honda Fit

Can a 2013 Fit with auto transmission be safely pulled behind a RV with the front wheels on a dolly?

Being front wheel drive, it certainly can. I would however recommend putting on a bumper cover and such for the front end, even if you make it yourself. Now lets hear from the experienced folks

I thought so. The question is about the steering wheel. I read somewhere that it must be unlocked, some even said to disconnect the battery ground. How valid is all that?

I cant speak in regards to those specifics from experience. The battery ground thing I would think to be only an act of caution. In regards to leaving the steering unlocked, maybe the battery ties in here, to prevent the wheel from locking. I know this car has electronic power steering but never had to look into such a thing as the steering wheel lock.
I would say its fine either way provided the vehicle is properly chained.
Leaving unlocked would to me communicate a desire to avoid putting strain on the electronic power steering rack. If properly bound, this should never be an issue anyways..

Oh, I just found this!

(just about) All steering wheels lock , when you turn off your car the steering wheel doesn't move . To unlock the steering wheel you need to put the key in and turn it to ACC , you disconnect the battery so it won't go dead when you do that .
