Starter help

Hi,
I have a 2009 Honda Fit Sport automatic(112,000 miles), from the Suzuka plant, and I believe the starter has just died. It seems like it is turning the engine, but fails. I just recently replaced the alternator with a new OEM part.

Are there any troubleshooting tips?
Looking for suggestions on replacements on the starter?

Are you sure its actually turning the engine? I mean, wouldn't a dead starter fail to turn an engine? IF it sounds like its cranking (normally?), then its likely something else.

I would check spark plugs and coils, especially if they're still factory parts.

If you're gonna look for parts on the cheap... you could try sourcing from a local junkyard in hopes of finding the part you need intact. I would suggest against this for maintenance items like spark plugs/coils though.

I would usually go to something like Bernardi parts online to look up the part number, then google the part number and see who online sells it for a decent price without looking too sketchy.

The engine feels like it’s semi turning and then fails, starter sounds off too. Last week every cold morning the starter would have a loud grinding noise and then would start.
