09 Fit Sport Speaker issues

Long time lurker, first time spaming the search button didn't help me find an answer.....

I want to put carplay into my 09 Fit. I got a nice head unit and ordered the wiring kit and dash kit from Crutchfield. While there I picked up some speakers too!
Head unit - Blaupunkt BPA799 Denver
Amazon Amazon
Speakers - Rockford Fosgate R165X3 https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R16....html?tp=78072

Using their guide I soldered the wire harness up and install the head unit. All functions work and finally got some CarPlay in my Fit! Now on to install my speakers. I install 1 by 1 and turn the car on to make sure they work. I get both fronts and then install the 3rd in the passenger rear and while listening to the music it cuts out. No static, no pop, just cut to silence. Turning the car off doesn't bring back the audio either. The only way I get audio is if I take the speaker out and plug the stock one back in. I took all of the speakers out and replaced them with factory. Sitting in the driver seat, I replaced each speaker to see how long they play with me holding it. Out of all 4, 1 plays with out cutting out. I installed that one into the driver door and move to the passenger. Plug in each one and every one of them I get NO sound or sound for 10 sec and it cuts. I even tested it with a volt meter and each of the remaining speakers OHM out to 3.7.

Has anyone had issues with replacing their speakers?

Check your radio ground. I would also pull the radio out to make sure nothing got pinched.

Yes..almost the same problem. The speakers that I purchased had magnets that were almost too large for the door openings. Had to be very careful when installing them to make sure the magnet didn't touch the metal. If one of them touched...none of the speakers would work.

edit: looking at the speakers on Crutchfield, they state that a bracket is required for install in our GE's
Prob to give the needed clearance at the rear of the speaker. Don't know how it will fit in the door covers then?

They came shipped with the brackets, I had to snip parts of the plastic to make the 6.5 fit. The brackets they send are universal in size so they are intended to be modified. I have 1 installed upside down on the driver side and its running like a charm. Looks like I am dealing with speakers that make contact and ground out.

So I plugged another speaker in and held it, turned the car on and let it play for a few minutes and no cut. PERFECT! Installed it and played fine at lower levels, but when i turned it to 16 it cut out. I think that was enough movement to make contact. I checked continuity check on the basket to the contacts to make sure the speaker it self isn't grounding out and its good.

I seriously think the contact pad on the speaker is flexing to the point it makes contact and grounds out. I want to seal it with some hot glue or something to isolate it.

Depth wise, I dont feel that the magnet is making contact with the door panel.... the brackets are as thick as the stock speakers so I think i have plenty of room behind it.

That's exactly what has happening. The connector plate on the basket of the speaker is bent out. It was enough that it flexed and grounded out. To fix it I encased the exposed wire and contact pad with hotglue and glued a pad of open cell foam to create a padded barrier between the door and that pad.

All 4 are working great now!

Just beware that vibration could cause the glue to crack in the long run. Don't know how you've done it, so there might not be any problem, but keep that in mind if the problem comes back after a while.
