Rear brake light not turning on when brake pedal pressed

Hello, all.

When I press the brake pedal down the rear, driver-side light (the one with the red plastic covering) does not light up, but when I use my keys to lock, or unlock, the car it does turn on.

Any thoughts? Thank you.

And when you turn on your lights?

Often, rear bulbs have two filaments: one for the light, one for the brake. You might have one filament burned, but the other one is good.

OK, thank you. The burnt-out filament sounds like it could be the case.

When I turn my lights on it comes on, but when driving and braking it does not turn on.

I'll just replace it to cover all grounds and hopefully that will do the trick. I thought this was going to be a more intense job, with having to get new wires and such, but I think this will be an easy fix - instructions right from the instruction manual. 😄.

Thank you.

Don't forget to not touch the bulb with your hands when replacing. The grease from your hands might shorten the bulb life...

Too many people forget this and touch the glass. Creates a nice hot spot and burns it out faster.
