2013 AT Fit Battery light intermittent ONLY between 2900-3500rpm
Hey,
So I have a 2013 Honda Fit. Got a new battery since it was starting slow I thought and it was a 4 year old battery, not original.
Now I've noticed, when accelerating, that between approximately 3000-3600rpm the battery light will flicker, or stay on, until the car shifts and drops to below 3000rpm, if I accelerate faster and it shifts from 2500rpm to 4000rpm, NO battery light flicker occurs.
Very odd.
Had the auto parts store check the starter, battery, and alternator, it passed the test, though when doing the alternator test, I didn't have any accessories on. I checked the voltage myself at idle, showed like 14.5V at the battery.
Usually a going bad alternator would have the light on at low RPM right??? And the light should stay on.
Is the tensioner pulley slipping or stuck? Stuck alternator or AC pulley.
The car is at 160k miles, had changed the serpentine belt at about 113k miles preemptively.
Is it a VTEC thing? Regardless of acceleration pace, VTEC or no VTEC, the light flickers between 3000and 3500 rpm give or take. Odd.
Edit: Alternator voltage regulator was bad, took it to Honda and they're replacing the alternator.

Try twisting the battery cables to make sure both battery cables are tight on the new battery terminals. The battery cable nuts can be tight, but the battery cables themselves can still be loose if terminal diameters are made undersize on the battery. I had this happen on a battery in a Civic years ago.

Thanks I'll give that a look see. Very odd issue
