Strange sound coming from engine
Good morning! The past week my fit has been making a strange ticking noise. I took it in for an oil change but that didn't change anything. This morning there was a misfire triggered by a check engine light. The code was p0303. Now a new noise this morning when I went to go start it. I will post a video. I'm going to take it to the dealership shortly but figured I would post it here to see if I should even bother trying to get it repaired or not. https://streamable.com/vo6qvr
You might be suffering from a loose spark plug, with the new noise you're hearing being the result of compressed air/fuel escaping from the cylinder around the threads the spark plug is screwed into. The misfire, check engine like, and code all fit this scenario.
If a loose plug is your problem, at this stage you may have minimal damage - perhaps nothing or maybe just damage to the coil pack on that spark plug. If the spark plug comes out completely and damages the threads in the head, repair costs can go up quickly.
There are many posts here about loose spark plugs and blown out spark plugs. Also plenty of videos on Youtube.
As it seems like you've caught the problem before the plug blows out and causes real damage it would be wise to stop driving the car until you get it fixed. Every time you drive the car you take the risk that the plug will blow out.
