how do you remove the shift shaft? No body on earth seems to know

I want to replace the oil seal. See diagram for highlighted parts.

I assume this can be done without opening the transmission??

The select lever seems to hold the shift shaft in, I imagine that with the select lever out of the way the shift shaft would pull straight up and out with the vehicle in neutral??

My problem is i cant get the select lever removed. There is a roller pin under a screw on it.. I dont know how to get it out.

There are no videos or solid answers that I can find with someone replacing that part or changing the oil seal.

So my questions are:

* Can the shift shaft be pulled up to replace the seal without removing the transmission and working on it.

* How do I release the shift lever with that little pin in the hole that hides under the bolt on the change lever. This seems to me is the only thing blocking me from removing the shift shaft.

Any link to anything, a video or another post about this.. I keep hitting dead ends. This is the manual 2011 Fit.

The other thing i did was remove the 4 bolts to take the entire assembly off so I could turn it upside down and that roller pin would come out maybe. but i noticed the whole assembly wouldn’t come up because it was also factory sealed to the transmission case. I didn’t want to pry up on it because I have no idea if im supposed to service it from the top, that it would even come out without releasing some parts inside the transmission.

The base plate "shift arm cover" in the diagram with everything attached needs to come out. The "shift arm", "interlock", "select spring plate", "select spring" and "select spring collar" are a stack of components on the interior end of the "change lever" shaft that will prevent you from removing the lever from the shift arm cover. The bolt at the very bottom of the diagram is what keeps that stack on the shaft. That bolt is presently inside the transmission - the change lever assembly needs to come out to access the bolt.

Blow/vacuum any debris away from around the hole, double-check you have all the bolts out. Make sure the transmission is in neutral - the twisting action on the change shaft is fore-aft motion of the gear shift. Twist the shaft back and forth to find the middle position, then verify by pushing/pulling the shaft into or out of the transmission (against spring tension) to be sure the shift arm and interlock are moving freely across the center "bar" of the shift pattern. Methodically pry the base plate away from the transmission. The plate is probably sealed with "Honda-Bond" grey RTV, and may have dowel pin(s) that create some drag.
