Timing chain tensioner locking teeth?
Other?

Please also tell me the best way to delay start with the starter motor running, so oil pressure can build up before - and how to?
Ignition, Fuel relay, fuse box or other hack?

100% Starter.

I've had that particular noise for over 3 years -- initially happened only on cold starts in the winter. In the last year it would happen occasionally on warm summer days.

Finally replaced last week and all is well.
