OEM part weight list?

So, I'm going to be trying to reduce the weight of my car, without it being as obvious as a completely gutted interior, ripping out A/C etc. (though who knows that might happen eventually haha) Just wondering if anyone has started to compile a OEM parts weight list?

Factory fuel tank?
Factory seats?
Spare tire?
jack?
tools?
individual interior pieces?
Were there ever manual windows in a lower trim?
audio system, like OEM speakers
OEM radiator
OEM radiator fans
OEM wheels of various offerings
etc. etc.

LIST
------------
Jack and tools : 6.3lb
Spare wheel & tire : 20.7ln
Floor mats and rear FIT hatch um... bed cover thing? (minus the divers floor mat) 9lb
Fog lights w/buckets: 2lb
Rear seats, lap belts and associated hardware. Allegedly 67lb, will weigh later. (so much for not making it noticeable LOL

Total weight reduction : Approximately 105lb

I like the idea. It will be interesting to see where you wind up.

Digital bathroom scale was used for the weighing.

Jack and tools : 6.3lb
spare wheel & tire : 20.7ln
ALL floor mats and rear FIT hatch um... bed cover thing? (minus the divers floor mat) 9lb

So removing these items dropped 36lb, cost nothing.

Maybe a tow when you get a flat tire.
My beefier-than-neccessary air pump (a Viair unit) and tire service kit (including tire plugs, cement and tools) comes in at 6.4 lbs. I'm confident that could be whittled down below 3 lbs. with a lighter pump.

A can of fix-a-flat for my tires that maybe have 25% tread life left is fine.

So pulled out the fog lights since they're busted, with the buckets... couldn't find the one I got out earlier in the week lol, Weighing just the one with it's bucket I got 1lb via bathroom scale, I have a smaller scale for lighter objects I'll re-weigh it with and see how accurate that is, so both are obviously 2lb.

Eh I duno if cargo cover is accurate, it's a thin polymer floor mat, no carpet, says "FIT" on it that covers the hatch area. Fog lights weighed. ^

Ah, you're right that's something different. "Cargo cover" is the lid for the trunk area.

Anyone know the weight of the stock 09/GE Sport wheels?

On this forum doing a websearch I found this https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...el-weight.html in it a member sites a thread he started, where he weighed a lot of parts titled "Official GE parts weight list". I'm going to search for it and post a link to it if I do.. in which case i'd ask it to be put under a sticky.

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/1st-...ight-list.html GD 1st gen list is what it was. :/ From what I can dig up though it looks like the sport alloy wheels (16") are approximately 17.5lb

weight, get it...haha... found the GE parts light thread https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ht-list-2.html
wow, those rear seats might be coming out...a few of my previous cars like a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi, the bottom part of the seat was foam, so didn't weigh much... then the backs were the fold forward kind and they weren't that much weight either... so I left them in place. these things apparently add up to 67 1/4lb though in the Fit. I never weighted the Talon's but I'd guess maybe 35lb in total?... an easy near 70lb that wont likely be used... very tempting to just sit that stuff in some trash bags in my shop to keep them clean and there if I want to put them back in down the road. Keep in mind if our fuel tanks are 10.6 gallons and approximately 6lb / gallon, taking out the seats is almost equalizing the wieght reduced by having a bone dry fuel tank vs full. except it's mounted higher in the car.

Pulled the rear seats, literally took MAYBE 15min with pulling the lap belts as well. Didn't weigh, but I can verify, they're not light weight! (they're not insanely heavy either, but combined definitely believable that they're 70lb. Can't believe how quick they are to yank out and I'm assuming really not much longer to put back in. Soooo about that not making it noticeable thing.... well at least they can quickly get re-installed if I need them back in the car.

I'm always amazed how heavy they are, twice a year when I change to/from my steel rims and snow tires. For a "small" wheel the stock wheels/tires are surprisingly heavy!

If I had the cash I'd like to buy some lighter (and better-looking) wheels but any weight saved would be negated by the hitch receiver I installed. That thing was no featherweight.

Look into the difference in rotational weight vs static weight, I think you might be surprised how much reducing rotational weight improves multiple things.

I figured they were heavy.

I want to know how your weight loss regime affects handling when you're done . . . or maybe you could comment as you go along.

I don't know nuthin' 'bout no rotational weight, but I know about unsprung weight.

Just remember that when you change your wheel weight, you have to consider how that change affects the rest of your suspension set-up. Different wheels may mean that you need more or less compression and/or rebound dampening.

Well ripped the seats back out, plus one this time... gotta weigh that front passenger seat and see how much it weighs.

Going from all the seats, with spare, jack and tools, to this... yes it's pretty noticeable. Wife's not going to like it... cause shes going to bring up what happens if I need you to pick up the kids or....

Sooo probably wont stay this way long, but weather is nice, and I just felt like it so lol. Besides now I can weigh the front passanger seat.

So I did weigh the front passenger seat today, it's 47.6lb according to my bathroom scale, I measured it via weighing myself then myself holding it as I'm skeptical about weighing things under 50lb on bathroom scales.

That's -155.6lb of weight reduction. I then took it up to Helen Georgia and drove up and down the mountain, definitely still a weak engine going up hill at speed, but my neck told me either I'm really stiff, or she's cornering far better than I'd expect a FWD economy car to, maybe a bit of both. Only had one instance of some understeer that required a little more steering input when really getting into some pretty sharp corners, and these tires are far from ideal, the line wasn't very good either for reasons I'm not going to go into

Now going down the mountain, I suspect it could have REALLY been fun, but traffic...

Very noticeable in other areas as well though, from breaking to fuel mileage. Before going up the moutain just to see how it did, I zeroed out the trip gauge, then went up and back down, then the 1hr 15min or so ride back home, while making a stop for a small DQ vanilla cone 51mpg!!! WTF? Granted I was driving for mpg on the way home but... ugh? So I'm going to leave the seats and stuff out the next few days and see how that stands then. Also much more noticeable in first gear when first starting up with the less weight. (Also only had a half fuel tank of fuel)
