USB Hard Drive Connection?
Just to be clear, the prices I mentioned are after mail-in rebate, which I think are kinda a pain but it works out to be a good deal for a brick-and-mortar store price.
Has anyone tried the imation or corsair brand? I have both of them in 4g and I both get the unsupported error with them. but I got an older 512 flash and it works fine. I guess I'll be getting another usb flash drive soon.
Just bought a Corsair "Flash Voyager" 8GB today. After reading your message, I copied one song to it and went out and the Fit read and played it fine. Can't vouch for a bunch of files, but it was capable of accessing the data.
Well, I did grab a USB harddrive from the Futureshop here and tried to get that working with the new fit. The "unsupported" message simply came up. I returned the harddrive and bought a 16GB flash drive. The flash drive is working fine, but I am a little dissappointed in how the radio accesses the folders on the drive. Instead of allowing for multiple folder layers it simply flattens out the folder structure to one level. This does not allow you to sort or categorize any music on the USB stick by any more than one level. I guess I was thinking that the interface would work similar to another mp3 player I have used where you could simply navigate through a multilayer directory structure to find the album/songs you wanted. This really limits the usefulness of the feature as you have to wade through a few hundred folders (a slow process) to find the one you are looking for. Does anyone know a way around this or a better way to search through a few hundred albums? I guess I was hoping for a more intelligent interface based on the single line display in the unit.
Thanks for the validation +rep . I guess I'll give it another shot.
Check my post in the iPhone 3G thread.
