It must be a canadian thing or something. Oh wait, vancouver too!

this is what I tried on my Sport tonight.

test 1:
- get in car, close door, lock the doors with door panel control
- waited about 30 secs, no alarm indicator on the dash at all
- turned on ignition, NOTHING

test 2:
- get in car, close door, lock the doors with the remote
- the alarm light on the dash blinks
- turn on ignition right away, NOTHING

test 3:
- get in car, close door, lock the doors with the remote
- waited 15 secs and the blinking light changed from a long blink to a short burst
- turn on ignition and the alarm goes off

I don't think there's way for me to turn on the alarm without the remote, any suggestions? Is it different for the canadian version?

I think you are right. I am not absolutely sure if I used the remote to lock the door while sitting inside, as it was dark inside and out and I couldnt really see the door lock tab on the door, so I probably used the remote instead. I also sat there for awhile before trying to turn on the ignition, becaues I was still "exploring" in the dark. Silly me.

So the moral of the story is - lock the car using the door tab instead of the remote while inside the car. Otherwise the car thinks you are a thief!
