A couple of points:

How sad is it that a good percentage of the public immediately scoffs and laughs at the cute, small, even wimpy look of the Fit and its engine. What are they like 13 years old? I'm laughing at the big SUVs.

Note that they also witnessed my 4 mpg theory on the FE gauge. Good that they reported their ACTUAL mileage (39) rather than just state the EPA figures.

What gets me, and I've heard it from some members here is the reference to the Fit as "cheap". It is comparitively inexpensive but I do not think of it as "cheap". Cheap to me means you cut corners to manufacture it at a low price. I may be wrong, but I think the car is well made and I feel like you get a lot for your money.

Completely agree. I cringe when a lot of people make judgements based on looks. They see a cute/dorky looking Fit, know it's $16k and therefore with their closed minds think it's sub-par quality, slow, cramped and wimpy. I guess man hasn't evolved much from apes after all.

In America the average person spends about 30 seconds on a decision and "got her all figgered out"! Get use to it! In other countries the Fit is revered as it should be. For 16K nothing can touch it! People can compare it to a neon, aveo, focus or a versa but 20 years from now the fits will still be running and the rest will be scrap.

Oh I'm used to it. Doesn't mean I can't vent on it. Perhaps if and when the Fit becomes more known and seen here in the states, people may change their initial take on the car.

Man, I remember when 16K bought so much more. By the time the Sport was out the door, it cost 19K. My wife's '99 Civic EX with Vtec and automatic rolled out the door for 18K. Her '86 Civic SI, 10K out the door. Back when I was a make ready guy at a few dealers, Accords were 11K, Acura Legends were 15K, later on a Lexus ES250 was less than 20K.
I've been around motorcycles for a while too.
Just for giggles, look at the price of the Base Model Honda GoldWing
Now tell me that this is worth more than a Fit? Sure, motorcycles like that are a luxury item, but c'mon now. I had a '92 GL1500 GoldWing Interstate. It was the bottom of the line, and it cost me 10,200 out the door. Maybe a base model Civic would have cost the same in '92?
My '96 BMW R850R w ABS cost me 10K new.
As time goes by, things get more expensive, but sadly my salary has not risen at the same rate. Cost of living has.
I chuckle to myself when I tell people I bought two inexpensive Honda Fit's both for 36K. I still think that's a lot of money for what they are. But the 2002 Odyssey that's now sitting around feeling sorry for itself cost around 34K. I dunno. 16 grand doesn't get you what it used to.

Why you wouldn’t Consider a FIT:
"You’re the starting center on one of the NBA’s 30 teams."

Really wish the other guys on the Milwaukee Buck's would have told me before I showed up to practice with mine.....

I'm glad you posted that link! If you'd have stated that a fatboy Honda motorcycle MSRPed for 21K I'd have called you a moron. That's inconceivable! Mind boggling! Thanks for the post! Mind boggling!!!!!

Hey thanks for the points. Did you look further?
Like at the top of the line Gold Wing? The one with ABS, Navi, XM, and Airbags? That goes for $25,599? Ok, so it has a bigger engine than a Fit, by 332cc's. But who's counting? LOL. What's a Fit Navi cost, 19g's and change?
