Steering Controls for Standard Audio system?

Does anyone know if the steering controls for the Nav system will work with the non-navi system?

I'm trying to get used to not being able to change the radio station or lower the volume from my steering wheel. Reaching over is a pain.

Hmmmmm.... I'm not 100% sure but I think it depends on the stock radio, and whether or not it has the ablility to be controlled that way.

Regardless it will be a wiring nightmare.

You have to buy the steering wheel controls ($$$), then wire them thru your steering wheel to your head unit area. That alone could be a hassle. Then if the hu can be controlled you would hopefully just plug it in, but you might need a PAC interface. You might find the answer in this thread ---> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...ing-wheel.html It's quite a long read but has some good info.

A definite way to do this would require getting a new head unit. The easiest way would be to get a head unit with a remote, and use that. However an aftermarket radio should have the ability to be controlled by the steering wheel controls. You would still have to buy the steering wheel controls ($$$), and wire it towards the HU, then thru a PAC interface (ie. PAC SWI-PS ---> Products ) then to the HU. But that way you would have the actual steering wheel controls on the steering wheel, instead of a remote.

They used to make some car stereos with remotes that clip on to the steering wheel, that could also be an option for you.

Check this thread also ---> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...s-non-nav.html

This is as far as I know, I'm sure some one else would have a different/better way of doing it but I don't know as I am not an expert.

Hope this helps.
