Registration report for CARS program

Hi all,

Of course, I tore up my previous reg for my clunker for trade. Anyone know how to get a report quickly? My new fit is coming in tomorrow, it seems. Will Carfax suffice? Thanks for any info.

Probably depends on your dealer. Ours called the Sec of State of IL to verify registration. Others are apparently sending folks to the DMV to get them to print some sort of validity, etc.

go to your local dmv. maybe check their websites, they may tell you on the site how to get duplicate forms and copies of records, etc. May cost you a little $. It's probably best to go in-person for quickest service.

Thanks. I should mention I did go to DMV and they gave me a form to fill out and send to get the reg history, for 10 bucks. Mail simply won't work as it's too long. In NY, my DMV was really not helpful at all to expidite this. I could kick myself for not saving my old reg. I think carfax is now my best shot. My dealer mentioned they'd probably do carfax, so why not just do it myself and save the time, I suppose.
