Standard Window Tint on Honda Fit?
Standard Window Tint on Honda Fit?
The Honda web site specs for the 2009 Honda Fit indicate that the window glass comes tinted. Does anyone know how much they are tinted and if they provide any UV protection?
Thanks...

if you take a white peice of paper and hold it out side with the window , you will see that trough the glass the paper a little green, and just looking at the papper its white. you might have to look back and forth alot, but there is a diff
Your right, its clear but its just there to block UV's. Its not a film like regular tint though.
Measure Window Tint
I noticed that there was a slight tint when I first purchased my Fit in March 2009. My daughter who sits in the back seat was always complaining about how hot the sun was in the Fit compared to my wife’s 2006 Honda Pilot. The Pilot has some pretty dark tint on the back side window, as do many U.S. built cars. The Fit is built in Japan, and the international laws are different than that of the U.S.
The U.S. Department of Transportation requires a basic 70% visible light transmission (VLT) on windshields and both front windows.
When purchasing tint, you need to know what the factory VLT is for a window to determine what the final value will be. I wasn’t able to find much information on the Internet, and I wasn’t going to purchase a professional device to measure the VLT.
As an iPhone/iPod Touch developer, I was wondering if I could create such a device. With a little experimentation, I actually came up with something that works great. This application is called ‘iTint’
, and should be available in the Apple App Store by the end of August 2009.
So, my measurement for the stock tint on a 2009 Honda Fit Sport (I believe base model is the same) is 95% VLT. It would have been nice for the factory tint to be the 70% VLT, but that's why there is aftermarket tint available.
