Most ZOOM for my buck...help?
I just purchased a '09 Fit Sport AT with Nav and my wife asked me this morning if I could make it faster 0-60mph so she can get on the highway safer. She enters the highway several times a day and i can see her point. I cant say Im a gear head, but I can and have rebuilt older engines (351w, 350). I am lost with these newer engines with front wheel drive. I know there is some incredible HP options out there for this model, but I have not clue where to start. What would produce the most HP for under $1000 and not hurt the engine or transmission? Thanks so much for any help.

I suspect the OP found the gd kwsc one.
to the op: it seems that your wife (unfortunatly, like the majority of women I have met, including my girlfriend) doesn't know how to drive very well, and is probably uncomfortable with a new vehicle. having the baby in the car is most likely making her nervous and paranoid as well.

you're very welcome. just posting my observations.
I've seen my fair share of men driving like idiots, so lets not go casting stones in a glass house.
However, cab has an excelletnt point of being tense when entering a highway with a baby in the car. I have to admit I didn't think about that....

I haven't driven the AT, but the manual has no trouble getting up to speed to merge on the highway, and that's not really even pushing it, it does it easily. I find it a very fun, zippy little car to drive.
If I could get a Ford Aspire MT (63 hp) to merge at speed on the highway, there should be no problem at all getting a Fit AT up to speed.
Have you considered a manual instead? I don't like most automatics, as they never seem to shift at the right time. Especially with smaller engines you can get much more pep with a MT, and it isn't that hard to learn.

If the exhaust and cold air intake kits won't void the warranty, I may consider this just to pickup the extra performance.
Wonder how long before Honda finds it's way to put a 6-speed in there. 3K RPMS at 65MPH is a bit much...
As others have said... "S" mode for acceleration. It is much better than keeping it in "D". I use it all the time, just for that. Just get used to the paddles. Is your Fit even broken in yet? The get a little more pep after a couple of tanks.
You could easily do Intake and Exhaust for that price. From what I understand the HKS is fairly quiet and gives moderate power gains and an intakes should also help with that.
HKS should run you between $300 & $400 and an intake should be between $200 & $300 for a Cold Air Intake. Between the two you should be seeing a net increase of 10-15whp (that's wheel hamster power)...
That should be a 10% increase in power which should definitely be noticeable.

If your car only has a few miles it might get a bit quicker. I noticed mine being a bit zippier after 500 miles. You can't expect to enter the freeway in the fit at anything but FULL throttle. It will go but you really need to push the pedal down. Pumping the tires up a little higher helps a bit too.

Observations? just out of curiosity... have you observed why insurance for men is higher than women?
Depends. with the same driving style, MPG should go up... once you hear the intake and exhaust at higher rpms... your happy foot gets used more which brings down the economy a little bit. Most any performance MOD is going to cost you a little in MPG but it shouldn't be too bad. - 1-3mpg...
one thing to be aware of, a larger diameter exhaust usually means that there is less back pressure which can actually lower the amount of torque at low RPM. Most performance Honda Exhausts are designed for higher rpm driving so while they do increase power, it usually ends up at higher rpm and can actually feel a little weaker down low. that said, a little extra power from an intake/exhaust will definitely be noticeable in the fit.

I wouldn't pump the tires up more than honda recommended. you can actually lose traction when the tires are overinflated and cause premature/uneven tire wear.
Anyone who says that you won't notice anything with an intake and exhaust probably hasn't ever been in a lower hp car with some basic bolt-ons. a 10WHP increase is pretty impressive on a car with around 90whp. People can feel it when they add 10hp to a 250hp car... It'll be noticed in a 90hp car.

The 3k supercharger I have seen is the KW talked about in these forums. I wondered if the gas milage would go in the toilet with one installed. Is that a good one to go with and would my warranty be void? She is afraid of the paddle shifters.....LARGE moutain to climb ahead of me....ugh
