Steering Wheel Audio Controls POSSIBLE on non-navi!
And I don't
But I have to believe that something so expensive maintains a large part of its value in the black market. Especially with the popularity of Hondas and what I believe will be the incredible popularity of the GE over the next few years. That will drive the black market value for our unique parts higher.
However, if you ever want to trade your Fit in, you're really gonna want that stock stereo, as aftermarket stereos are worth much less at trade in. Which also creates demand, which creates some black market value. And your insurance rates will go up with a claim...

Prejudiced? How so? Its no secret that Juarez and Tijuana are hubs of this specific type of crime. Both cities, as well as most other border cities, have very cheap auto repair centers (who I'm sure know how to bypass radio codes
) Do you think they order all their parts from Honda?! I just mention these two cities as I'm a border resident and am familiar with this region, obviously stolen car stereos can go anywhere. Its not a statement against the people. Their residents and law enforcement have much more severe types of crime to worry over... like the killing machines constantly being smuggled in from the US.

However, if you do want it on the OEM HU, its gonna cost over $325, which is totally ridiculous
For that money you could get a much better after market setup with far better sound quality, file navigation, display, and bluetooth. None of my car's stereos have had pause, and I always wish they did. I switch modes when I need to pause the music, but thats just not the same.

The voice of reason.
Someone please make a DIY of this. I would totally do it, however, I'm not confident enough in my rewiring/dash disassembly skills.

Not quite sure how this is the voice of reason... If they had gone and looked in the ICE forum, they would have seen this is already done...

And a DIY Picture guide, cause as I said before, I'm dumb.
I agree, too much arguing over stock vs. aftermarket, sorry if I kinda dragged this thread off course
, although getting the same trade in value on an aftermarket system vs OEM is (good) news to me
.
Anyway, back to controls on the wheel, it seems like the audio controls are possible and not too difficult, although I think the Base will require a different cable reel. What I'm now curious about is if the Navi's extra buttons would work... Or, even better, the Insight EX Navi's buttons... There's six of them
It would be nice to map the right multi-info up/down buttons to next and previous folder, the bluetooth buttons would still be for bluetooth controls, the "voice" button for select/file navigation, and the "back" button for pause. The wheels seem identical, and for some reason all the relevant parts for the Insight are cheaper too. I would think you would need to use all the parts for the Insight including the audio/cruise buttons (which seem identical, but I would guess are wired differently) and the Insight's cable reel.
It would be awesome if someone tried this

You should be able to find out what sort of outputs or changes in resistance each of those additional buttons provide. Like in here: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...tml#post743707
Then the question becomes... can anything understand those outputs? and what can you hook them up to?
How much more would it cost to get the Insight Buttons?
finally did it DIY
