Question 2010 Fit Sport and Ipod. Options??

Hello,
I've looked through the forum and have seen alot of talk about the annoyance of controling your ipod through the radio unit, but haven't exactly found an answer to my question. So I apologize for the repeatedness of my post.
I just got a 2010 Honda Fit Sport without navigation and LOVE it. I also have an Ipod Classic. When I plug my ipod into the USB port, it is only able to be controlled through the radio unit, which is really really annoying. So my question is what are my options? Does the Ipod touch have the same issues? I am also more than willing to use the Aux jack, but wasn't sure what type of cable I would need?
Thanks!

just an mini jack to another mini. lol that aux reads whatever sound that comes from any portable player that can be used with headphones.

i think it just takes getting used too with the USB control. Its hard to tell its on shuffle and ect. I was having that huge problem at first, and then after i figured out how to control shuffle and continous play it became second nature to me.

choose play list, choose song. hit play.. idk how much simpler it can get.

Iam using Ipod Nano btw.

The only thing that bugs me is that, say I want to listen to a randomized library of just one artist. I click in the knob, scroll to artist, choose which one I want, select "all" but each time the first song is the same. Ive even tried just hitting the play button when "all" is on the screen but its the same first track each time. Everything after it is random though.

You need a 3' [or more] wire with 1/8th inch male jack on each end, if you're gonna use the aux in the Fit. If you're into sound, you'd be better off using the usb port and getting used to controling the ipod through the radio controls. The usb port offers much better sound compared to using your headphone jack in your ipod. Either that or burn some cd's. The aux jack is convenient, but you'll notice a decrease in quality sound as well as needing to jack the volume up on everything almost all the way. It's a tradeoff. Since our Fit's have a cd player, something I haven't had in my past cars, I prefer cd's again. It's a real pleasure listening to cd quality, as opposed to mp3's. People should try it more often to refresh their memory of what good sound really sounds like.

Just a thought. What about one of the following:
Alpine EX-10 iPod controller with Bluetooth. You could run this into the Aux input and it has a separate display. Newegg.com - ALPINE EX-10 Universal Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit with iPod Controller - Bluetooth Cell Phone Accessories

Harman Kardon Drive+Play - iPod controller same Idea as above but no bluetooth. the controller is more useful than the one on the alpine. We have this in our Ridgeline and it works really well. (click through my sig pic to Cardomain and to the Ridgeline for pics.) http://www.google.com/products?q=har...ve%2Bplay&aq=f

Both of the above will provide a more iPod like experience. We are happy with the HK but bluetooth would be nice.

The worst part about the iPod control is there is no easy way to select a podcast or audio book- most of my listening! The work around is to add the podcast or book to a playlist before syncing the iPod- which is a PITA.

I use a Griffin Auto Pilot, uses the dock connector out to your AUX so same sound quality as the USB connection Griffin Technology: AutoPilot - Charge/control/play your iPod through your car's AUX-in port

You can also manually set your iPod to whatever artist/playlist you want, start playing, then plug it in through the USB jack. It should pick right up. This of course doesn't do you a heap of good if you want to change what you're playing while driving.

The best solution for me thus far has been making playlists. The interface could be so much better!

Use iTunes smart playlists, to which you can add songs, podcasts, or audiobooks based on a number of different attributes.
I use it mostly to sort my music by genre, but I also have a bunch of genius playlists.
