I've heard that:

They fade really badly
Scratch easily
Become stripped easily

For $200?!?! And all that crap happens....
I've searched online for these bad things and I didn't see anything. I'll try these lugs first for cheap on craigslist and we'll see what happens

do it, i've actually heard from some knowledgeable people (who can easily afford Ray's lugs) that Muteki's are the way to go

LOL one person posts about some bad things he's "heard" and you all set to take it as gospel? I have been actually using Rays lugs for the last 4 years with not a single problem. They get scratched? I don't know how that happens but what are people doing to scratch them? They fade? hmm...I have had the same set for over a 1.5 years and they look the same.

As far as being stripped...95% of the time it's user error. If you use the proper tools and torque them properly then they won't strip. If you're some gorilla with an impact gun then you're going to have problems since they're very lightweight lugnuts. I'm not some spokesman for Rays but I KNOW they work. I'm just giving you my own experience from having actually OWNED them but it's up to you.

I'm not accusing you of anything all I'm asking is HOW did the scratches happen. How did they get stripped? etc...

Woah woah, hold them horses. What do you mean take it as gospel? If you actually read my post properly, I meant that I would try the Rays lugs first because they were cheap anyway on Craigslist. I stated that I tried looking on forums and what not about the bad reviews about the Rays lugs and found nothing. Not wanting to start a fight here, just clearing things up someone bought the lugs before me though so I may have to go with Muteki's

I just put on my gorilla honda-specific locks today that I bought from amazon.com for 19.99. They do feel a tad heavier than the stock lug but (could be my imagination) but at that far inward they don't cause any perceivable vibration at speed....depthwise they are perfect! They definitely would give a thief a headache.

Amazon.com: Gorilla Automotive 38431N Honda Ball Seat Wheel Locks (12mm x 1.50" Thread Size): Automotive

Please read my post above, as the aftermarket 'tuner' style lugnuts do not have the correct lug seat-pattern for OEM factory Honda wheels, they are meant for aftermarket wheels with a 45* tapered lug seat. The OEM Honda wheels all use an "acorn" or "ball" shaped lug seat.

This happens all the time on these internet forums, people think they know what they are talking about/recommending and recommend the wrong thing. This is a very serious safety issue, and people have been pushing their luck all the time with tuner lugs on OEM Honda wheels. If you don't use the correct lugnuts and your wheels come off at freeway speeds you won't get much sympathy.

Lug nuts are one of the most important aspects on the car, do not screw it up, cheap out or do anything misinformed.

Omg even wikipedia knows. Lug nut - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Honda uses a spherical rather than a tapered seat, but the nut performs the same function.

Sorry to bump an ancient thread, but this confused me slightly. Is there a something unique about how honda does the spherical lug nut or will any acorn style do on the FACTORY wheels. The factory lugs have disappeared and I'm putting stock wheels/winter tires on this weekend, wanted to make sure I'd be safe with a set of acorn lugnuts from autozone.

NO

you cannot mix-n-match

if you're mounting factory wheels, get BALL SEAT nuts.

If you're mounting aftermarket wheels, make sure what kind of seat it will use (most use tapered, but not guaranteed).
