Better Acoustics in the Tall Mode?

Has anyone noticed you get better acoustics by keeping your seats folded in the Tall Mode? Since the rear door speakers are at the bottom raising your seats out of the way improves the sound.

I discovered this by accident after I had storage boxes in the back using the Tall Mode. When I removed the boxes and left it in the Tall Mode it sounded much better. The stereo does not sound the same with the seats down.

I'm sure just removing the boxes opened up the sound too. I haven't tried tall mode to see but it stands to reason- if the seats are in the way they'll cut off movement too. There are some here that prescribe to having the fade setting just to the front speakers. You may want to try that too. I don't really like it set that way, but whatever makes it sound good for you is a plus!

Technically, rear speakers are a bad thing from an SQ perspective. But, SQ is a subjective thing.

SQ = sound quality. Another common one is SPL which is sound pressure level or loudness.

Thanks Nightroad - I always like to fill in the cabin with a touch of rear fade, but I'm seeing the FIT reacts a bit differently. Not sure, but it seems like the overall response of the speaker set up is limited. Base must really suck.

I do know rear seats down kills the whole thing - gotta try seats up...

Sound is ok but it tends to need to compete with road noise off those stock Dunlop's. Too bad they weren't decent snows then I would pull them right now, but my economics just can't handle wasting 30K miles worth of rubber - it just ain't that bad. K_C_

I've been leaving my rear seats in the Tall Mode for better SQ. I went one step further to improve the SQ from the rear speakers by moving the empty passenger front seat forward so the rear passenger door speaker has an unobstructed path towards me. You can even see the speaker when you look directly to the right. You can really hear the rear right speaker with the chair pushed forward so I set the fader to L1 to balance out the left side.

My idea won't work if you have a passenger sitting in the front.
