How to remove antenna unit
I would like to remove the antenna unit on the fit. Do i need to remove the headliner on the inside to get to the bottom to take it out? Is it possible to take out the part from the outside?
I just had to get to the antenna the other day. There is a 17mm bolt that holds it down.
To get to it,first take off the cover over the roof mounted childseat harness point, and remove it completed by pulling the pushpin out.
Then pull the lip of the weather stripping back where it means the headliner. Just where it overhangs over the headliner to make the seal.
I only had to unclip the left side of the headliner from the roof attachment point.
Slid my hands in between the roof and the headliner and using a thumb ratchet and socket got the bolt loosen. Removed the rest of the way by hand. The the unit lifts out, but there are two wires attached to the antena unit. I didn't deal with undoing those because of what I was having to do.

part #11 is the bolt you have to remove.
Hope that helps some. Will be glad to elaborate more if needed.

I've known people before that removed stock antennas, and went with a hideable aftermarket one and filled in the spot where it was factory mounted.
In my case it was a repair situation.

How's about those of us who would like XM? I have this squirrely antenna and a bunch of wires laying around and I just can't bring myself to try and fish it all together. Any aftermarket installs to make it clean?

What's a "squirrely antenna" and what does it look like?
Ha! Well the one I have looks a bit like a flattened walnut with about 18' of wire hanging off it . . . . . . . . cool thing is that it will, rather magically, stick to steel. Rather lame, but effective to reach out to the satellite.
I don't see them hanging off vehicles that are set up to receive sat radio though - they look a bit more like a shark fin - and no, not the soup.
Shark fin envy I guess?
I do think Honda messed up when sat radio was not included in the FIT. Come on - we're a decade into the 21st Century.
It's crazy to be fishing wire and hanging magnetic antennas off a 2010 car simply to get satellite radio.

Thank you!
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted here previously. I had to replace my antenna base today (don't even ask how I accidentally ripped it off) and was only able to do so because of the great info you guys provided.
If anyone else is trying it, this is what I learned:
If anyone else is trying it, this is what I learned:
- I didn't need any tools to get the bolt off--I was able to just use my fingers.
- Getting the bolt screwed back on the new base took me a few tries as I couldn't seem to get it tight. Finally I put the bolt on the right way and it snugged up nicely (the right way is that the end with the little washer and clip goes on first--and the little clip has to fit into the "U" of the bolt)
- I thought I might need to remove the roof-mounted seatbelt as well as the child harness clip, but I didn't (it probably would've made it easier if I had, but I couldn't get it out. Regardless, I still managed to slide my hand in enough to work and didn't damage the headliner.)
- There is a wire that comes off of the base that has to be clipped in on the right hand side (presuming you're standing behind the car, looking in). To get the old one off, you just have to squeeze the clip (my hands aren't very strong so I used pliers and it was no problem).
- Half-way along the wire is some sort of white clip. I did not reattach that (had enough problem getting it undone for the old one) but I don't think it's going to be a problem.
