Dash lights don't dim with headlights

We just added a second 2009 Fit Sport AT w/NAVI to the family. This one was purchased used with 13000 miles.

I noticed that when turning on the headlights at night, the NAV unit does not switch to night mode, even when set to "Auto". Also, the lights on the dash don't dim like they are supposed to. Is there some way of setting it to do this deliberately that the previous owner may have done, or is this a defect?

Thanks!

correct!!! the nav screen will not dim if it is all the way up, so just twist it a couple clicks and the nav will dim at night. also you will like this feature if you happen to be driving at dusk with the headlights on but want the nav on brighter!! then you just twist it to bright and twist it back when you want.
