That sucks dude. Like the guy above said, park your car in a garage. If not, park in a well-lit area.

Get a good alarm and a set of wheel locks that are not so common or do like some people I know and have 4 different lugs on each wheel.

I know how you feel man. THAT SUCKS.

Thieves took the stock mags w/ white-letter tires off my 1987 Monte Carlo SS. It was in a shady neighborhood while I was working. I drove it home on 3 flat donut tires and 1 inflated donut tire. I drove it like that for 3 miles at 10-15 mph.
They actually set the car on 2 bricks and 2 donut tires that happened to match my bolt pattern! Never could have gotten out of there if they didn't leave those as the flatbed wrecker wouldn't even attempt to load it.

i got to thinking the same thing when i found my right side mirror missing (just the glass) one morning. pissed me off too cuz it was right before i was going on a long road trip.

i think the thieves that steal the most stupidest things are crackheads.
they're crackheads! it's like Dave Chapelle's skit about Tyrone Biggums. i bet they'd break your window to get to a candy bar.

Thieves are thieves. What do you do?

Wheel locks? A more sensitive security system? But honestly, in any situation if a thief wants something bad enough, they find a way to get it. You just have to make your "target" less desirable.

That really sucks. I have the OEM sport wheels, ( I know in here it's rare, but I like them) but I guess the fact that some people like them is EXACTLY why they get stolen.

No honor among thieves. Why steel a poor Honda Fit owners wheels? Replacement might be more difficult. Geesh, at least go steal the wheels off a more expensive vehicle, where the owner has lots of expendable income. Your likely to get nicer wheels and the owner might even enjoy blowing more cash on an expensive replacement.

I kind of was living with the obviously wrong idea that the entry level aura of The Honda Fit might protect it from the desires of thieves. Guess I was wrong. Time for Wheel Locks.

Well, Honda created quiet a monster when they brought rolled out the 09-10 GE8 sport wheels.

None the less, my new wheels will be here soon.

I'm adding some various wheel locks, upgraded alarm system, and tilt sensor.

I have seen a lot of people that need to be killed or at least have their ass kicked but never have I seen anything that needed to be stolen..... I'm glad that most folks around here feel the same way.

wondering if I painted my 10' stock sport wheels white, if that would lessen their value to a thief?

I apologize to the OP and victim. I know this doesn't help. But after viewing his poor Fit on the ground like a wounded animal and in considering that I now should go buy wheel locks (at least), it got me to thinking.

It really sucks that The Honda Factory security system doesn't at least offer some protection from this happening...it should be more sensitive. I mean, I now own a vehicle that with it's TPMS will alert me if my Tire has lost some air, BUT evidently will not even raise an alarm if all four entire wheels are removed and the vehicle is put on blocks and lowered to the ground? Ughh....

If we are talking production expense? I'd easily sacrifice the PIA TPMS for an alarm system that at least offered some protection for the wheels. Unfortunately, for all vehicles wheel theft is pretty common. For me, it's a world more likely I'd wake up and find someone had stolen my wheels, than it would be likely I don't check my tire pressure and suddenly end up running significantly low, or on flat tires.

Once again...to the OP...sorry.
To Honda? Beef up your factory available alarm system.

Thanks for this thread... First time poster, first time wheel theft victim on the Fit I got just three weeks ago.

Had no idea that the wheels were in such demand. I see some tire locks in my future.

My question... where to find the folks who want these wheels for their cars... Tuner circles?

I have had a lot of things stolen from me including a car, a few motorcycles and lots of parts including racing slicks on chrome plated wheels and a built up small block Chevy engine... No one has ever taken wheels off of any of my cars.... Has anyone ever had their car get shot all to hell... It's hard for passengers to feel relaxed in a car with bullet holes in it and almost impossible to take a sane woman out for a date in one.

There are two kinds of wheel locks. One kind uses a different bolt pattern and requires a special socket to remove the wheel lock. I understand that you can take a regular socket and “beat in onto” the wheel lock, and thus remove it. I would think this would create some attention in the process and I assume this is what you had on the car. The other kind uses a small key; otherwise the exterior just spins and will not loosen.
I have the first kind and hopefully it will be enough of a deterrent. Sorry about what happened to you.

Thanks Meg Whitman, ( possibly the next Governor of California) and E Bay, the Internet free market for stolen goods.

What I want to know is this...how do you remove the wheels and then remove the jack from under the car? With my Fit I can just get the jack under the vehicle..in fact, I may have to run it up on some 2X4's for the front, just to get the jack under the car. How the heck do you remove it without wheels?

They took everything. My dealer quoted me $3200 but we would only pay $500 (for our deductible), but I didnt get stock ones, I went ahead and got the mugens. But dude I am sorry to hear that happened to you. I know the feeling, you just honestly want to grab a shotgun and hunt them down, or thats how i felt at least.
That's how I felt too. BOTH times. They took all four back in January of this year and just last week they struck again. This time they managed only two wheels since something must have spooked them. They started taking the front lugs off but didn't get the wheels.

This is a horrible thing to wake up to and this time I am going to try two different wheel locks per wheel and will look into getting an after-market alarm as well.

thieves use cinder blocks, bricks, anything they can put under the car (refer to photos of wheel theft victims' cars). or they might just leave the jack, it's not worth much really - but neither are our stock wheels...thieves...
