STOLEN: All four wheels and tires

2010 Taffeta White Sport

All four of my wheels and tires were stolen on Monday night.

Car was armed and had wheel locks. 1 lock per wheel.

Car was found Tuesday morning missing all wheels, doors unlocked.

(I will post photos when I get off of work)

So now I wonder...

Do I take the insurance money and replace everything that was lost exactly as it was? If so...the thieves will probably be back next week for the brand new set.

What would you do? I'm open to suggestions.

Was the key to the wheels in the car?

What else did they take inside/outside the car?

Were these the original Sport Wheels and Dunlop tires?
(I like the wheels, I would upgrade the tires, don't forget to include reprogramming the TPMS sensors at the dealer in your costs to the insurance company)

Sorry to hear that is really bad. You hope at least putting on wheel locks that you would prevent things like this from happening but not so. Either get a better alarm system or put a baby montior inside the car so you can hear when something is going on. How did they pop the doors open? If they got away with it once they can try again. Some people use more than one wheel lock and I would definitely upgrade my alarm system.

Sorry to hear that, curious though,
what kind of locks you were using (OEM, gorilla, Mcgaurd, etc..)
did you have the key hidden in your car, and did they find it to get them off?

To answer questions:

The wheels were the stock 2010 16" Alloy wheels that come on the Honda Fit Sport.

The wheel lock key was not used to get the wheels off. The wheel locks were the factory Honda wheel locks.

Nothing was taken from inside the car, I keep it clean and empty.

Here, photos.

There are blocks on the passenger side.

Which they stole from my neighbor.

I actually dropped my key off at the dealership earlier tonight and parked directly behind my car was another 2010 Honda Fit Sport. All four wheels were missing.

i've heard people suggest buying a baby monitor and putting the transmitter in your car and the receiver next to your bed... and next time they try, hopefully you'll hear it.

what town do you live in? how safe is the neighborhood?
i think there was a thread here once about frequent stolen fit rims somewhere in eastern pa.

Yeah--get you some steelies and nice tires with 4 different wheel locks maybe

Use whatever is left over on something that thieves can't take.

are we talking factory immobilizer or after market alarm? I was told there is no way in hell someone can start an immobilized Fit without the key??

It has the factory alarm system.

The car was sitting right where i parked it. I do not think it was started, or moved at all.

That last detail is reassuring. So, they just stole the wheels in place; not too difficult. If you replace with steelies, use the leftover money to put in a second alarm system with an perimeter motion sensing, one that will broadcast to a remote on your keychain. The OEM alarm system takes care of ignition immobilization, so all you really need is something that will detect movement. You may get some false alarms, but....

Your initial post indicated that it was found with the doors (plural) unlocked. Opening any door with the alarm set should trigger the alarm. On many cars (don't know about the Fit), unlocking the door with a key will unset the alarm too. Perhaps they picked the lock. There are lock pick guns that take no skill to use, but I don't know if they work on car locks. The RFID chip in the key would simply keep the car from starting/running, so they didn't need to duplicate that functionality. To steal the tires from a car with the OEM alarm, they probably didn't even need to open the door(s), since as far as I know, it doesn't have any form of tilt/impact sensor.

shock sensor (like with the compustar or any higher end security system) should be able to detect a drop or lift.....totally worth the investment IMO. Good luck with getting that fixed ASAP.
