Ipod Nano worked fine yesterday, but unsupported today

Hello fellow FIT freaks!

I have a problem. My ipod nano was working fine yesterday morning but when I got in the car after work yesterday it says "Unsupported". I tried turning the radio on and off, unplugging the nano, etc. Still unsupported.

Does anyone know why it would be fine one day and now unsupported? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
- jhawk

There are apparently some oddities with iOS4. A hard reboot should get it working again.

Thanks for the response, guys. A hard reboot of the Nano, I'm assuming? I've got no idea how to reboot the system in the car.

I had the same problem on my Fit.It all started on my 2010 Insight.I was listening to my IPOD and all the sudden it stopped working.I messed around with it for 2 month's and was going to buy a new 1 when all the sudden afew night's later it started to work again.I thought about why and came up with it was because my Insight has auto stop and it some messed with the IPOD(probably a safety thing). So when I got in my 2010 FIT(Ipod now working)I would drive around and when I turned off my FIT with the radio(IPOD)still on(SOMETIMES)the the error message would appear and I could see the track's but no sound. Then when I would turn the car back on(maybe would have to do it 3 or 4 time's)with the IPOD setting on the radio and it would start working(playing music)again.POINT OF THE STORY try having your IPOD on and start the car afew time's and see what happen's.SORRY for the long story.

Thanks for the info, Mr. Ball!

The problem is actually with my Ipod. It's dead in the water. Won't turn on, won't restore, won't work when I do a hard reset. Too bad, it's only 2 years old. *sigh*

Anyway... point being it's not a problem with the FIT, but with my Ipod.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Before you even do a hard reset with your ipod, try this as this happens quite a bit to may fitties out there...you simply need to turn on and off your headunit with ipod connected. A couple times will get the ipod to connect.

Otherwise, make sure you have the most updated OS on your ipod.

i also need help

I know u have been discussing an ipod however I have an android 2 global and when I first connected it to the usb in the glove box it worked but had multiple tracks and I wasn't sure if it was because I had different music players on the phone but I really didn't mind. However the next day I went to plug it up and the screen on the car keeps saying unsupported. They are mp3 files. When I clicked on my phone it is saying sd card is busy. When I unplug it they play fine on my phone. I tried using a different sd card with songs and the same thing (unsupported). My ipod has the same songs and when I connect my ipod to it, it plays fine in the car. I just don't understand why it plays one day and not the next day and it is stressing me out. Please help anybody.

The HU supports two modes via USB. They are iPod or mass storage (treats everything else like a flash drive).

The issue may be that the Android isn't switching on mass storage mode properly. Have you tried restarting your phone?

Take the memory card out, then shut it down and yank the battery. Wait about 5-10 seconds, put the battery in, then the memory card and power it back up.

You might need to find the right forum for your phone to see if there are others having the same/similar issues and to see if there are better solutions.

Hi thanks for replying so quickly. Yes I have tried all of that. On my phone when I plug it to the usb it has 4 options, 2 of which include for charge only and for mass storage, I did put it to the mass storage and that is when it is saying unsupported and that the sd card is busy. I have restarted the phone many times, took out the battery, I even thought that I wasn't unmounting the card correctly until I found how to do that but that didn't work either. I also used another sd card from my other phone and it says the same thing.

How do I get to another forum specifically for my question? I am new to site site, I was just goggling the question and came up on this site. I signed up but couldn't even find out how to post an original thread which is why I posted my question as a reply to a thread.

Also the way my phone is I can't take out the sd card unless I remove the battery. When I tale off the back cover I have to remove the battery to reach the sd card so if I restart the phone without the sd card I would have to then take out the battery again put in the sd card and but back the battery then turn on the phone

I use an 8 gig sansa cruizer, I get the unsupported error from time to time. I found that connecting it to my computer, stopping the usb and removing it fixed it each time.
