My Turbo Build: Possibly the first USDM GE8 turbo build actually completed

Deer populations are so out of control here that you can only harvest 1 buck per year but you can buy extra 'antlerless only' permits. Not enough hunters left. Accidents with deer keep increasing.

Put the intercooler in. Took 7 hours last night and another hour today. Clearance is insanely tight. I had to completely remove the fog lights and even then I had to cut into the bumper a bit. There is only 1 way to get pipes past the radiator.
I actualy like the look, i think it appeals to my inner ricer. Just gotta throw some mesh up. And maybe some door edge trim to cover up the parts of the foglight area I cut into.
The bad news is that with all the bends and pipe size changes (all my components are 2.5 but only 2.25 will get through the space under the headlights) 2.25->2.5->BOV->2.25->2.5->Intercooler-> -2.5->-2.25->Maf->2.5->TB I have a 1.5 psi drop across the system (no leaks)
The intercooler is nothing short of incredible. I saw intake temps at about 120 degrees during wot with no intercooler with ambient temps at about 20 degrees. Now with the intercooler I see intake temps at about 30 degrees with 25 degrees ambient. Due to the pressure loss across the system I have slightly less power in 1st and 2nd gear but oddly enough I actually feel like I am going faster in 3rd gear than before. Can't wait to turn up the boost to get 8psi in the manifold again and realy feel the difference.

Well done, that looks pretty sick. Definitely would make me double take if I saw it in traffic!
Pressure loss is only a concern if it pushes your compressor to a less efficient point on the map to make up for the whatever 1-2psi you lost. Fortunately, even on your T25, you can get away with 15-16psi before things get too out of hand.
You are still moving more air mass even at lower manifold pressure, and because the charge is colder. Now you are also able to run more timing and/or leaner.. I would go for more timing until you start playing with double digit boost Then I would back off the timing and find an AFR you can get away with, this will give you better mileage under boost, since I know you DD this little beast.
But because of the lower manifold pressure, you are not filling the cylinders as quickly at lower rpm so torque suffers a bit. You notice this more in lower gears because there is less load and it doesn't spool as fast.
To make up for this, you run greater timing in these load cells! This will push you through the rev range and into boost quicker.
You might find life will be easier if you use 2.25 on both sides of the MAF though, if its possible.
Another nice item for this DD would be a switched slimfan like this 12" fan from FrozenBoost for $30:

You could even mount it on the front of the core if you have to because of space constraints between the IC, trans cooler, and rad
I have 4 of varying sizes on my car in case I get stuck in traffic after a pull or have to shut down and cool off.
One 12" on the back of the inlet side of my IC (where the majority of the charge cooling is performed!) one 7" on the front of my external engine oil cooler, and two 14" fans on the back of my radiator.
The owner of that site is a good guy, and a contributor on the ECMTuning forums, I buy a good deal of stuff from them and they ship quickly too!
They have all sorts of stuff.
Even under the nastiest conditions over the summer I could keep coolant below 210F and intake temps below 130F on my 30"x12"x3" IC.
Looks good man!

I think you read my mind. I was thinking about getting a fan for the intercooler and a small fan for the transmission cooler. I just realized the weapon r stickers have to go. I sold the downpipe.

Not only is the 1st turbo'd GE8 in the greater Chicagoland area but its an orange revolution one, like mine and its an automatic
Can't wait to see this car, gotta get going on setting up a Chicagoland area meet, even in the winter it helps keep the spirit up during the long, gray, cold monthes!

2nd gear spins up to 55mph and 3rd gear spins up to 95mph.
No idea, probably a centrally located one, not in a ghetto.

I am down for this!
D'oh! I keep forgetting you are AT!
We need to get you a bigger cooler and a fan stat! Just curious when was the last time you checked/changed your ATF?
The intercooler fan will be a big plus as well. Especially as it gets warmer!
