New A/C compressor problems...
I'm new here, and still finding my way around, so please forgive me if this has been covered before!
I have a 2010 Fit Sport. The A/C compressor was recently replaced by the dealer, and it's literally giving me headaches.
This new one kicks on and off every 30 seconds, sounds like a dying refrigerator, and vibrates the *whole front end* of the car. After about 10 minutes with it on a few days ago, I got a migraine and could no longer drive (!). The dealership keeps telling me that there's "nothing wrong" with this new compressor.
I never had a problem with the old one. It kicked on/off at sane intervals, made only a little noise, and didn't overly vibrate or rattle. It was fine--and would have *stayed* fine if a speeder hadn't destroyed the front end of my car. BTW, every other repair has been perfect. Only the compressor is causing issues.
Did I just get *that* lucky with compressor #1? Or is the migraine-inducing compressor #2 not as it should be, and the dealership is just trying to avoid fixing/replacing it? Because this thing feels like the clunky compressor on my '91 4WD Civic wagon right before it (comp.) died.

Couple options...call the insurance company and tell them the car has not been fixed to your satisfaction. Take it to another dealer or A/C shop and get another opinion. If its as bad as you say, it should be simple to get estimates and statements that its not working correctly. Another is to complain to the dealer mangement...get another new Fit off the lot and start it up...right next to your car and compare.
Also, I noticed that my son's car will vibrate during idle. I see the large wiper arm vibrate like crazy sitting at traffic lights. As soon as the engine rises from idle the vibration is gone and all is smooth. Is this really something new? Best of luck.

No! something is Wrong there. The comp. when running should not be noticed except by the loss of power
. What you are describing with it is a low charge of refrigerant. The vibration is that the compressor is not bolted in properly. Does your car vibrate all the time and just worse when the A/C is on or is fine till the A/C is turned on?

Spacecoast: The service dept. says that they checked it against the AC on another Fit and it's "the same." I have my doubts about this. It's definitely not the same as the one that was in there before!
Perrenoud: No vibration otherwise. She runs like a dream. Thank goodness.
A family member who is very good at dealing with service departments told me me to (nicely) corral the manager, have him sit in the car with me, turn on the AC, and point out where I'm hearing/feeling the problem. I guess that can't hurt, and this is the first and so far only problem I've ever had with this place (after seven years), but does this approach ever *really* work?
