Nope, I guarantee that it was available before then. My sister had one when I got out of the Peace Corps, and I'm quite sure of that date. Besides, I did look at the apple page.

I am a mac enthusiast and an ipod collector, so hearing that your 1st gen--which is very valuable--is toast now, hurts my heart. Yes, I am a geek.

I would be giving my honey the silent treatment for awhile over this. LMAO.

UGH... I was looking at the manuals... said 2002. Now when did I get my Archos... I know it was before the ipod was available. HMMM... it's still running the RockBox OS
