Engine swap????

Hi everyone how's everyone today!??? As for me I'm ok I have a question about doing a k20 swap on my 09 Honda fit! I've had it stock for 2 years and I think I'm ready for a modification I've always wanted.... Here's my problem I'm from California and I know how strict California Is with modifications to vehicles. How hard would it be for the swap and would I be able to keep it street legal? Thanks in advance guys....

i havent looked too deep into this matter, but from what i understand it is significantly harder than swapping a k20 into a GD

swapping engine is legal in CALI as long you have documents that the engine is bought legit.... cause if its stolen or if the vin is registered to be stolen they will impound you car no question ask.

but yea its ok and legal as long as the k20 is stock up to the axle back.

also i need to find someone that can do this in SOCAL i need mine as well replaced.

for BAR certification in california you'll need to run all the USDM emissions equipment, the engine you're putting into your car has to be from the same year or newer than your car (ie: 2007 Fit + k20z3 from a newer SI), as well as the documentation mentioned above. there's also a visual inspection on top of a laundry list of nit-picky "rules" set by california. each BAR application is different so certification isn't always guaranteed. i'm in the middle of research for BAR certification myself and these are just some of the things i've read from other people online. i haven't asked the DMV yet mainly because there's always a line that extends outside the door and around the building when i go lol

in the case of a k20/gd3 swap, don't you have to cut/notch the frame to get it to fit? i seem to remember reading about that at k20swap.org but i could have my info mixed up... but if that's the case then that alone is already a red flag for the visual inspection.
