Safe to remove door edge guards?

I bought a CPO 2010 Fit Sport a few months ago, and it had these door edge guards already installed.

They don't look that bad, but I'm thinking I like my Fit would look better without them. I'm very careful opening my doors, so it wouldn't be something I'd miss.

I was wondering if anyone here knows if it's safe to remove them, or how to remove them?

Edit:
Here's a link to a page showing exactly what door edge guards look like, in case you're not familiar with them.

Just worried about messing up my paint.

Thanks

Those should pull right off. They might leave a little glue behind which you should be able to remove with some WD40 or other mild solvent.

I would recommend not pulling straight out from the paint surface, as that's the most likely way to pull the paint off (not that I would worry about it in this case). That is, start at the top and pull straight down rather than pulling out.

I removed mine the weekend I bought my 2010, looked like crap and mine were also around the wheelwells. Every dealer in my area installs them on every new Honda as part of a "care package" where they do that with nitrogen in the tires, and tint the windows and puts a $1,500+ add to the sticker, dealer profit item.

I gently pulled mine off starting at one end, then using goof-off and a microfiber I removed the adhesive.
I did it at the end of the day when the car was 100 degrees, makes it easier to remove.
Car looks so much cleaner once its off.

warming the glue up a bit with a hairdryer might make removing easier

Pull gently - start from one end. A few hours in the sun is easy to find - helps. All will be fine.

Thanks a lot guys!

Some great answers. Especially heating it up.

Will try removing them this coming weekend and post results.

Cheers, SF

Update: I removed the guards yesterday. It was a little time-consuming (40 min) removing all the leftover sticky tape, then using goo-gone to remove the remaining adhesive residue.

But now my Fit Sport looks sportier

I noticed I have the same kind of black edge trim along the wheel arches.

Do you guys with Fit Sports have this too?

-Or was this part of my dealer's edge guard add-ons thing?

Thanks
-SF

No, the edge guards do not come standard with Fit Sport. They are dealer addons.

^^ +1 wat bucky said.

it's a stupid add on some dealers put in there to make you pay more for your car. my cars definitely do not have them.

when i buy my car i test drive the exact car i purchase. i make sure the one does not come with these non-sense crap.
