Confused: Keyless Entry for 09 Base

Okay, my girlfriend owns a 2009 Fit Base model and has complained endlessly that she should have gotten keyless entry with the car when she bought it. I thought I researched this properly.

Her car has power locks so I had thought that I could order the $40 Sport key from College Hills and program it to the car to use as a key fob (cut off the key part) and, presto, she'd have a key.

So the key arrived today. I did exactly what the video stated. Start position 1, then two, then hit the lock button on the fob. Repeat three more times. On the last time I hear the locks kick in but the oddity is that it seemed to just emanate from the hatch. None of the door locks actually moved but it clearly reacted like the video suggested. However, as soon as I removed the main key (which is just a plain key) the fob key would no longer do anything with the locks.

Did I miss something basic? Does this car require some other part or option to have this work? What did I miss?

I wanted to give this to her for Christmas so I need to get this worked out quickly if I need to send parts back and forth.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Nevermind. I found it. The last step in College Hills video doesn't say this CRUCIAL part:

....then push the transmitter lock button again, or the code will not be stored.

Instead they show how you can program other keys but I only have the one. All fixed now.
