Cruise control behaviour

Hi,

A question that may sound "silly":
I noticed today in my fit sport, that when I'm on cruise contol (engaged), and I'm accelerating (meaning pushing the gas pedal), the cruise contol won't disengage. What it does - it will accelerate, and if I stopped pushing the gas pedal (Stop accelrationg), the speed will drop back to my previous cruise contol setting. This is contrarry to push the brake pedal - then of course the cruise contol disengages. I'm almost sure that it wasn't like that when I bought the car - or maybe we missed it? (We also have a honda oddisey and we think that it works differently there...not sure...)
Can someone tell me if this is the way it should work in my Fit?

Many thanks!

That's how its supposed to work in most cars. The reason it doesn't disengage when accelerating is because its designed to allow you to pass another car when needed aand resume cruise without doing anything else.

Lol no car disengages cruise control when you press the gas. You would never be able to set it if it did that.

Technically you could... it's as simple as lifting off the pedal and THEN setting cruise. To get the speed you want, either go faster than the speed and set cruise when it slows to it, or set it, then use the cruise to gain speed.

But yeah, cruise isn't affected by the accelerator pedal.
