Dash reflection on windshield? Normal

The shiny plastic Honda used for the dash is causing me to see it when the sun is at the right angle. Has anyone noticed that problem and found a quick, simple fix. Our mh had the problem, PO solved it with carpet, thought it might be easier to spray with something to dull the finish mainly behind the gauge section. only happens with full sun out front of car, not as bad as reflections from other cars windshields or headlights in the mirrors, last car had antiglare on the mirrors, so maybe the tint installer guy will have something when I take it in.

Use a dull finisher product instead of the shiny stuff to clean the interior, or get a dash mat, which will get rid of any reflections.

This problem drives me nuts and took me a while to get used to it.

Just don't use armor-all or any of that shiny cleaner stuff. Dash mat or carpet would help but they remind me of early 90's Toyota Camrys with kleenex dispensers in the back window, so I avoid them.

Simplest solution, I will keep a pair of polorized clip ons in the the car.

Tinted 9 windows and maximum strip top of windshield didn't help.

Checked with dealer and when they do the add on protection for paint it includes the plastic of the dash, used dish detergent as salesman recommended but still shiny.

Now that I put a black towel over the dash, it is better, but from the drivers seat I am seeing the reflection of the off white pillar and surround on passenger side.

Hopefully the engineers doing the mechanics took more time and improved from previous models, than the interior design engineers.

As near as I can tell, the polarized lenses block 100% of that glare, which is what you'd expect.

Agree.

On a truly brand new fit, this doesn't happen to the degree you are having problems with,

It's the dash treatment that got used. Perhaps the dealer/carwash had this done for you before even delivering it so don't blame Honda so much as whoever cleaned/detailed the interior of your car.

Once it gets shiny, it's tough to unshiny it to get it back to the way it truly was originally. You can just try general cleaner; or various console specific products specifically nonshiny/matte, or just give up and work around the problem as suggested above.

Ignore the guy who hates dashmats because of rear package shelf mats on Toyotas (hugh??? what???) Get a dashmat- the simplest and most effective cure for the dash reflection. They are available everywhere, and work extremely well. This was the first mod I did with my 2009. Huge dash, huge windshield, too much shiny surface.

With a dashmat, you won't have to worry about someone else using Armorall on your dash.

Just sayin'.

Dashmats are very 1980s. My grandma had a dashmat iirc. They're good for old cars with cracked dashboards. Like I said myself, an effective solution, I just avoid them b/c I think they look horrid.

I'm glad you like yours though, to each their own.

Putting a dashmat on your car is like telling your hot sexy girlfriend that you want her to wear huge granny panties. She's still pretty but she could look better

Yea I've got paint protection and interior water proofing so everything's shiny. I love the big dashboard but hate the glare and absolutely hate the dash mat. So no choice but to use sunnies

Hasn't been a problem after 30k miles of dust has built up on the dash.
