I'm about a day or 2 away from picking up a new 2012 Fit Sport, just waiting on the car to move from the depot area to the dealer's lot - been about a 7 week wait for it to get here. For kicks, I decided to do up a spreadsheet comparing certain specs of my current car - a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder SE - to the 2012 Fit. Some of the results are rather surprising.

The Fit has:

• Almost an inch more front headroom
• 1.5" more rear headroom
• 2.7" more rear leg room
• Nearly the same front leg room
• Nearly the same rear hip room

My poor old Pathfinder is getting 14mpg right now and I'm expecting to get around 34pmg+ on average in the Fit so just about 2.5x the mpg, obviously better handling as the Pathfinder is a rolling monster sometimes and while the Fit clearly has less cargo volume at 57 cubic feet compared to the Pathfinder's 98 cubic feet, it's plenty to carry the things I regularly need to carry. The only serious downside/change for me is that my Pathfinder is fantastic in the snow or off road and I do a fair bit of hiking/camping/backpacking that puts me in the mountains on rough roads, but we also have a Subaru Outback which is "good enough" for most things. Just no more nasty jeep trails.



I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but the Fit really does make sense
