squeaky clutch?

I have about 78k on my ge8 and I've noticed my clutch squeaks when i press it. No slip or anything. Any ideas?

I have a GD3, but the same problem. I have 135,000 miles and my clutch let's out a nice 'creeeeak' every time I let it out slowly, and a quick chirp when let out fast.

Aside from the random connection to you, I think that I have some valuable information lol. I do remember perusing through the repair/maintenance section of the forum, and a member created a tutorial of how to solve the problem. If I remember correctly, I think it was a linkage of some sort that needed to be greased up. I'll go search for it now and post the link when I find it!

Good luck!

It's just a noise don't worry about it. If there are no issues, it's probably just old grease at one or more of the parts between the clutch pedal and the clutch disc. You can remove the transmission and re-grease everything, or you can try re-greasing that rod behind the pedal. Depends where the noise is coming from.

Not worth the trouble in my opinion.

The same issue occurred in my 2002 Civic Si hatchback around the same mileage. In my case the squeak occurred upon clutch pedal release (i.e. when letting up on the clutch pedal), and I found it to much worse when it rained. After observing someone else pumping the clutch pedal while the car was off during a rainy day in my driveway I discovered that the cable running from the clutch pedal to the pedal arm was responsible for the squeak. I cleaned the cable of the existing grime and lubricated the cable at the attachment point to the clutch pedal arm with TriFlow (a bicycle wet lubricant). After that the squeak was gone for about 20,000 miles. When it came back I just repeated the cleaning and lubrication process and the squeak, again, went away. Sold the car before the squeak returned.

Tried searching Bernardi’s website for an illustration to supplement what I wrote. No such luck.

We do still have clutch forks haha. We need them to move the release bearing, to press the diaphragm, to release the clutch. No new technology there.

I say don't worry about it. I had the noise for forever. Then I changed the clutch/flywheel/release bearing, etc., lubricated all the contact points, and the new clutch was noiseless for about 20k miles. Now I have a little noise again. Don't care, it's fine.
