Anyone have good pictures of replacing headlights?
Anyone have good pictures of replacing headlights?
Kind of a silly question, but I don't really do a lot of electrical work on cars. That being said, I'm not spending money to have the dealer or a quick oil place do them for me. I just need to confirm that the plug I think it is from looking at the head lamp and the picture in the manual is the right one. Even if someone can point it out in a picture of the headlight assembly, I'd be able to do it (I'm not incompetent, just an impractical person).
We're doing an evening trip and the stock headlights just aren't very bright at all. I'm kind of worried about visibility this being the time of year that wildlife tend to cross the highways a lot around here, so I'm going to swap for some Halogens. If the operation goes well, I might do LED for the rest of the car's lights.

FYI, the stock bulbs are halogen. The plug is on the back side of the headlamp assembly and has a few wires going to it. the most centered, large wire is the one you are looking for. the light is three pronged adnd the plug sits in the middle of a 4" rubber seal/surround. Take out the plug first, then pull on the rubber surround tabs to remove the surround/boot. There's a spring clip that holds the headlamp in place that you push in a little, slide up(or down, can't remember), and release. it swings out of the way and you pull the headlights out. Everything in reverse and you are set.
The manual has a diagram of this I believe.

A Few pages back on the "What did you do to your fit today" thread, there's a link to the GE Nighthawk Ultra Bulbs that had a 50% discount at checkout AND a $10 rebate for a set. $10 for a set of bulbs, especially brighter ones, is worth it.
