Is it Safe to park your fit outside?
um, couldn't people still park next you on your passenger side?
lol yah, especially in rural areas rednecks will intentionally park right next to you (partly inside your parking space) with their pickups and pontiacs.
after my last incident, i park far away from everyone.

Who cares if your wheels are stolen or doors dinged? Its a Honda Fit.
After dumping a bunch of money into parts, I still can't bring myself to have any attachment to this car.
You have insurance for a reason.

Since the fit isn't a collectable car in any way, body panel damage doesn't really bother me, except that even minor damage is a way for rust to grab a toe hold.
i think my '12 GE MT has some specialness to it even if it's a budget car... i would like to keep mine clean. not that i wont park it at the mall or a whole week at the airport or drive through snow and salt, i rather not have dings or scratches that were caused by careless or rude people.
especially when we know color matching can be a problem depending on the color of car and bodyshop. you can have the best insurance, but the hassle is still there to get it fixed correctly...especially if one's critical about color matching. why buy a new car if it's going to look like crap.

For the most part yeah. Most thieves are not looking for Fit parts, unless you have a nice set of wheels. The only reason why I would say park it inside is because honda's paint job sucks < single stage white FTL >.
Honestly, that sounds like something a thief would say. Not calling you a thief, but just pointing that out. A thief would justify their actions by assuming that the marks insurance will reimburse them. The thing is, the mark is still out at least their deductible. Plus insurance rates will rise.
I'd rather not have to rely on insurance, find my car vandalized, or with parts stolen, so yes, I care.

A thief wouldn't take concern over what happens to the victim. And if they did they wouldn't last very long or be very successful.
I pity you for living full of fear over the safety of your material possessions.

Who said I live in fear? I'd be mad if it happened, but I don't sit here and worry about it.
You clearly have a lot of assumptions, so I'll leave you to them.
Apparently you can't park it outside, came out to my car this morning and someone hit my bumper in the corner. Just scratched paint like they scraped it on the way out from behind me (parallel street parking).
I was mad for about 3 seconds and then realized there were about 2 other hits already on the bumper, so, whatever.
I like how the rear bumper comes up on the sides like it does on the fit, if that were sheetmetal it'd be much more of a pain to fix.
Will replace when I have a driveway of my own

Unfortunate. Battle wounds of street parking (parallel/and even slot parking). Even with a driveway, you still can't take it with you.
It gets easier after the 1st ding... Then you wake up and realize it's a car that's driven in public....

^I agree, first ding was a door ding in a parking lot about a week after I got it. I knew it would be a heavily used vehicle and not a show car, dings and bumps don't bother me anymore.
What bothers me more is people.
I admit there are a few parking lots I frequent that I will park remotely if only because 50% of the cars there are beaters, made out of steel, and held together with coathangers and zipties. Yes, one of them is Walmart.

What i gather from your post is that if i had XXR's, Rota's, Drag's, etc. on my car i don't take pride in it, but i'm not supposed to care that some douche in Walmart parking lot let his Cavalier's door swing into my door? Or that someone out there is driving around stealing OEM wheels which are $400 a pop according to my insurance company?
Back n the days... Never park beside cars with 1 ton wide swinging doors -> Camaros, Firebirds, Monte Carlos, Lincolns, etc.
Nowadays... Don't park anywhere else but home. Don't drive if you can't take a ding.
